This little device has changed my life! Our sprinkler controller is in our garage. Whenever I needed or wanted to adjust our water, I had to ask my husband, because the garage is, well, not very user friendly. Now, I can access the system from my smart phone! It is so sweet! It is very easy to set up. It only took my husband about 20 minutes to connect the wires. (He is pretty tech savvy, so I don't know if I would have been able to do it myself!)
The Rachio app is awesome. It is easy to use and understand.
We were pleasantly surprised to find out that our state (Utah) offers a rebate for this controller in the amount of $100, bringing the Amazon Prime price down to $100!
Another cool feature is how it connects with the local weather forecast. If there is rain or other forms of precipitation in the weather report, the Rachio automatically adjusts to conserve water that day. So far, we have yet to have rain on one of the days we are scheduled to water, so I will update this review when we see that happen.
During the initial setup process, the app asks what type of grass is in your yard and how shady/sunny it is. Based on the information we put in, it only recommends watering twice a week. So far, that plan has worked well for our yard. If we need to, we can always adjust.
I'm sure there are more advantages and perks to this device, but for me, the deal maker was the ability to control my sprinklers from my couch! Being a little older than younger, it's nice to have anything that adds independence to my life. The Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller has definitely done that.
